This award is designed to highlight and honor both individuals and golf’s core values.
Making awards regarding golf’s core values is one important way of supporting the spirit and traditions that make golf the special game it is. Golf’s core values include self-reliance, honor, honesty, playing the ball and course as you find them, companionability, etiquette, and stewardship of the game.
Individuals who have exemplified the core values, promoted them, and/or taught them to new or young golfers should be honored. Thus three types of awards can be given: 1) living and/or playing by the core values, 2) promoting them, and 3) teaching them.
Every club, association, or other golf group is encouraged to identify someone who should be given this award. The decision can be by board vote, recommendations, in conjunction with other local awards, or by other means decided by the club or association. Organizations may choose to give this award yearly at a year-end meeting, quarterly, or after certain events. Enclosed is the award certificate, ready for the recipient's name.
If you wish to work with Keepers and this award, we will provide the certificate, a special bag tag, and a copy of The Way of Golf. To cover our expenses, the cost to you is $45.
In your correspondence, let us know the name of the recipient so we can fill out the certificate.
Thank you for helping us spread the values of golf.
