The highly experienced team at Illawarra Womens Specialist Centre is led by Dr Tahrir Basheer, a highly skilled female gynaecologist who has been in practice in the region since 2005. She has trained in Australia and abroad and has a wealth of clinical experience in the field of gynaecology. She is an expert in cervical pathology, abnormal pap smears, vaginal and vulval diseases and private obstetrics.

Dr Simon Winder

The Dr Simon Winder, Illawarra Women’s Specialist Centre is dedicated to women’s health. The doctors at the centre work to prevent harmful gynecological illnesses and help women to maintain fertility. This way, they can make sure that their babies are born healthy. The centre is located in Wollongong, NSW.

Dr Simon Winder completed his medical degree from the University of NSW in 1996 and has worked in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the past 20 years. He also has extensive experience in Accident and Emergency Medicine. In addition, he holds Fellowship in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaatry as well as a Master of Reproductive Medicine. He is an expert in reproductive health and provides a comprehensive range of services to patients. His expertise includes the Dr Simon Winder diagnosis and treatment of all stages of pregnancy. In addition, he has a special interest in infertility and genetic disorders.

Dr Winder is a highly experienced gynecologist with a passion for delivering a comfortable, relaxed experience. He has delivered more than 2,500 babies safely and puts his patients at ease. He also considers each patient’s unique needs and concerns. His areas of interest include fertility and surgery, and he also offers a personalised service.

Dr Tahrir Basheer

Dr Tahrir Basheer is a female gynecologist and obstetrician with years of experience in the field. She has been practicing in the Illawarra since 2005. She is experienced in a range of gynaecological issues, including laparoscopic surgery and non-invasive hysterctomies. She also provides urgent appointments for women seeking gynecological care.

Dr Tahrir Basheer completed a Master of Reproductive Medicine and has furthered her training in diagnostic ultrasound diagnosis. She is committed to education and holds a joint associate lectureship position at the University of NSW and Wollongong Hospital. In addition, she is an examiner for RANZCOG pre-exam courses.

Dr Tahrir Basheer’s interest in interprofessional education enables her to provide excellent care to patients in emergency situations. She teaches medical students and has been involved in high-fidelity simulations to improve multidisciplinary care in emergencies. She also supervises specialists-in-training accredited by the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also an approved training supervisor for the DRANZCOG Advanced program, which tailors skills for general practitioners practicing in rural and remote areas.

Dr David Greening

Dr David Greening, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (OBG), is the director of The Fertility Centre Wollongong. He is a published author who specializes in infertility and promotes affordable fertility care. Since 2005, he has operated in the Wollongong area, where his clinic is known as The Fertility Centre. His team includes two midwives who support his patients through the entire fertility journey.

Dr David Greening is available for new patient appointments. His private practice is located on Crown Street Wollongong, and is close to all major hospitals in the area. He works closely with two midwives and a team of dedicated staff. His aim is to help women achieve and maintain their goals in conceiving a child.

His commitment to evidence-based medicine has led him to become active in various Quality Improvement and Patient Experience initiatives. In addition, he has worked to develop a postnatal service for women with anal sphincter injuries. He is also an active member of the policy and practice committee of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. He is also studying for a Masters degree in Philosophy and Medical Law at the University of Melbourne.
